The voyages of the Starship Enterprise are about to chart all new territory in the newest spin-off series as Captain Pike returns to the bridge and journeys to Strange New Worlds in the latest adventures announced coming to CBS All Access.
Space, the final frontier… It continues to prove it has no boundaries. After making an indelible contribution in contemporary canon on the Second Season of Star Trek: Discovery the crew of the legendary Starship Enterprise as lead by its intrepid Captain Christopher Pike and his crew, the mysteriously unflappable, First Officer Number One and a half-Vulcan science officer named Spock, will continue to explore the uncharted depths of space in the latest spin-off series. CBS All Access has announced Star Trek: Stranger New Worlds has been set to launch.
Anson Mount will reprise his role as Captain Christopher Pike, the predecessor to the seat that will eventually go to one James T. Kirk, and the second captain of the Enterprise after a tenure serving aboard the USS Discovery. With the conclusion of that ship’s mission having been completed, Pike returns to his own Enterprise accompanied by his science officer Spock (played by Ethan Peck) and his crew including the enigmatic Number One portrayed by Rebecca Romijn (the role was originated by Majel Barrett in the original Star Trek pilot).
The three main cast members happily made the announcement on social media mid-May confirming the series will follow in the footsteps of Star Trek: Discovery and the more recent Star Trek: Picard and will premiere in CBS All Access. The series premiere was written by Akiva Goldsman who will also be on coming aboard as an executive producer and will chronicle the Enterprise’s adventures in the decade leading up to its five-year mission under Kirk. Fans really fell in love with the reintroduction of these characters in Star Trek: Discovery.
