A Pop Music Feature

This season’s MTV VMAs nominations are out, and MADONNA races to the top of the crop with 11 noms for CONFESSIONS II, and rumors abound that she will be performing LIVE!

The accolades just keep coming! This year’s MTV VMA nominations have been announced, and amid a season that has seen few standouts, the Queen of Pop keeps her seat at the head of the table with 11 nominations across the spectrum.

It’s a stark reality: Madonna and MTV share a long, unique relationship. The pop artist has been there since the music channel’s beginning; in fact, her debut performance on the very first VMA award show in 1984, performing “Like A Virgin,” has become something of a legend. She retraced her steps 20 years later, swapping spit with then-emerging pop princesses Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera for a rendition of “Hollywood” that also featured Missy Elliott. Every time Madonna has dared to don the VMA stage, the icon has dominated.

Forty years later, it looks like the queen is holding on tight to her crown, with a stunning 11 nominations across multiple categories extending the critical success of CONFESSIONS II, her fifteenth studio album. Her nominations span performance and technical categories, with two including her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the album’s debut single, “Bring Your Love.” Voting is open now; fans are encouraged to make their voice heard by choosing their favorites at https://vote.mtv.com.

Madonna leads the pack with a total of nominations, including:

  • Artist of the Year
  • Video of the Year for CONFESSIONS II – The Film
  • Song of the Year for “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter
  • Best Collaboration for “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter
  • Best Dance for CONFESSIONS II – The Film
  • Best Choreography for CONFESSIONS II – The Film

  • Best Visual Effects for CONFESSIONS II – The Film
  • Best Direction for CONFESSIONS II – The Film
  • Best Art Direction for CONFESSIONS II – The Film
  • Best Cinematography for CONFESSIONS II – The Film

Cast your vote and tune into the show live on September 27, 2026. Expectations are high that Madonna will join the lineup of acts performing live on stage. It’ll likely be a historic performance, and fans are already speculating that she is likely to perform her latest release “Danceteria,” which is racing up the charts since its remix premiere by celebrated house producer Harry Romero.
