A Collectible Unboxing Feature

No elite fighting force dedicated to defending democracy is complete without a Ranger and SGT. STALKER has always proven ready to take down any enemy, no matter how diabolical.

Have to admit my decision to add SGT. STALKER from Hasbro’s G.I. JOE CLASSIFIED line of 6” action figure to my collection was two-fold! He was cheap (under $20) and had always been one of my favorites. One of the original in the series of 3 ¾” action figures released in 1982, the Ranger was always one of the more “badass” offerings in that first run (maybe it was the M-32 “Pulverizer” submachine gun he carried) and always a part of my “special missions” trifecta that consisted of Snake-Eyes and Scarlett. As the JOE’s field medic, Stalker also served a major role on the battlefield.

His file card revealed his name was Lonzo R. Wilkinson from Detroit, Michigan. Before joining the military he was an urban street gang warlord, which sadly stereotyped his backstory for the time, but also added a dimension of dangerousness that made him an even more enticing figure to own. In the comics and later the animated series that followed, Stalker is always considered a “first pick” and on the frontlines of every mission; it was always very curious to me why he wasn’t a component appearing in the big-screen movie released in 2009.

Certainly among the most playable figures in the original roster, Stalker is also the first one to strap on a JUMP jet back and go airborne. I always had him kicking some major butt and was happy when he was given the spotlight in any G.I. Joe adventure. He was described as moving “like some sort of jungle cat – silent, fast… strong,” which added to his mystique. The current line of Hasbro G.I. JOE Classified action figures, pays proper homage to the original 80s release and significantly updates its look. Still, not that he’s indistinguishable from the familiar fatigues he’s always worn as the JOE’s RANGER with the talented tongue for linguistics, not to mention the “Pulverizer” sub-machine gun.

Standing at a rugged nearly 7” tall the SGT. STALKER action figure is highly articulated and can be posed ready for action! These chunky figures have become the most attractive to adult collectors, who fondly remember the 3 ¾” figures and now have an opportunity to recapture some of those great campaigns. The figure is fully accessorized and comes with two rifles, including his familiar M-32 “Pulverizer” sub-machine that packs neatly into a rifle satchel that clips onto the figure’s back. Stalker is also equipped with a field knife for close combat and survival and an automatic handgun with a silencer.

The figure also includes an all-weather desert Pancho and a removable beret. The only obvious piece of Stalker’s ensemble that is missing is a JUMP jet pack for making quick escapes from behind enemy lines. Still, it was incredibly hard to resist this contemporary iteration of the “SGT. STALKER” action figure, which only validates my deep appreciation for this particular member of the G.I. JOE team and with a new face sculpt that only confirms — he’s still a major badass!

Labeled as the 46th figure in the G.I. JOE Classified line, the package features exclusive art by Frank Morrison (morrisongraphics.com) making this highly collectible run a definite must-have for fans, and enhancing the figure’s credibility as one of the most desirable in the series. Posed on any shelf alongside Snake-Eyes and Scarlett, these figures stand ready to fight for the red, white, and blue, wherever there’s trouble, G.I. Joe is there! Yo Joe!
